Sales, banking, people and motivation Essays

Deals, banking, individuals and inspiration Essays Deals, banking, individuals and inspiration Essay Deals, banking, individuals and inspiration Essay Unified Banking Corporation has been working as a business bank for more than thirty years expanding its number of branches in the Philippines to more than 283 destinations and a great deal of other worldwide delegate units deliberately place all inclusive. (Alliedbank 2005). The accompanying regions of concern were noted during the investigation and research of the association: a.â â â â â â Technology and globalization. The site of the bank alliedbank.com.ph needs online visit mode for online requests that needs prompt consideration. Outside rates are not refreshed early before anything else. I utilized their messaging framework for a straightforward ABA number request of their journalist bank in U.S.A. what's more, I was not offered the right response, rather I was approached to make a hunt in their reporter bank’s site. It was a straightforward request but then their client care delegate can't flexibly a convenient answer. Essential things they should know when they are out there in the field. Internet banking is controlled by Bancnet online with a store move mode office that doesn't work in any event, for same bank nearby exchanges. There is no president’s message in their president’s message page. I utilized the email accommodated the president’s message and I was thinking about whether it has a connection since it do esn't have a spring up window. At any rate I sent an email to the email address that was given and as of not long ago there was no answer gotten from the president nor did I get any auto email responder. The web based financial page doesn't have an online application structure for opening of new records where customers can oversee topping off the new records structure first at that point go to their ideal branches for the introduction of required prerequisites and mark. Contrasted and HSBC site, page for structures and records can be downloaded at hsbc.com.ph/ph/structures/forms.htm, HSBC I think has a greater amount of an edge to client assistance and worldwide banking. There is no cost free telephone administration number accommodated call questions. An association as worldwide as Allied Bank overseeing without the ongoing innovation to improve full-blossom client support relationship the executives framework. I wonder in the event that one loses his AT card in the night can sue t he bank for inability to give the offices to call without paying if there should be an occurrence of loses if around then he doesn't have any assets to make a paid call to the Head Office ordinary hotline number and no one in the close by branches is wakeful to make the hold out card exchange. b.â â â â â Customer administration experience and inspiration. There is an obvious absence of call focus administration portrayal and the innovation to help and support bank exercises. Bank employee’s inspiration by means of innovation usage and improvement might be given by an internet banking device which may get and clutch clients forever which is evidently will be the core of any bank’s long haul methodology. The heart is missing now, there are just individuals moving however with complete absence of inspiration and excitement, adroit information on bank items and force initiative drives to goal obscure for a decentralize zone of power. c.â â â â â â Cross selling and inspiration. Strategically pitching bank’s offshoot organizations items is a decent type of trading endeavors to improve incorporator’s ventures. In the event that we investigate the manner in which it was actualized, we can see that a decent piece of the post and selling procedure of the New York Life (NYL) protection items has been put on the shoulders of the bank’s Branch Heads (BH) and down to the shoulders of the staff. In my examination there is just the nearness of push and figures for deals amount. There was a nonappearance of checking and investigation to successful deals correspondence process among financiers and clients as far as arranging and follow up framework. The NYL association completely runs from the structure of the bank which might be the underlying arrangement however neglected to recognize corporate statement of purpose and objectives of the bank which are selling their fundamental items. NYL individu als were just there to present and close deal however subsequent meet-ups and pay special mind to forthcoming business sector were the weight of the BHs. Mabuhay Miles could be a free promotion item from Philippines Airlines which is likewise their sister organization, yet their facilitator and programming neglected to give explicit reports of a rundown of the individuals who were selected at their safe branch one after another in order. So the new records delegate needs to make a quest for the number or name of the investor first before enlisting. The board has given severe strategy of enlisting to accounts that were two years of age and over however there was no arrangement in the product of Allied Bank to handily get to store accounts with their relating ages. How would you think representatives who were given the share will figure out how to enroll investors and feel about how things work and run in the association? d.â â â â â Work conditions and additional time installments. Cost cutting and requesting bank representatives inspiration isn't all around repaid when cooling were being supplanted by electric fans to save money on power. Envision the smell and the warmth of a workplace as, for example, a hermetically sealed shut space to expound without legitimate ventilation and cooling. There is a foreordained cooling working hours. Regardless of whether we permit one unit to run it despite everything can't suit to cool the whole branch where individuals are as yet working. The most terrible that is going on is the slicing of the quantity of hours worked past ordinary hours, additional time by the representative. Recollect being endlessly from your family for such a long time a period in any event, reaching out to late nighttimes and getting paid for just a level of the work done. A generally excellent inspiration and conduct reinforcers plan to build up a revolting obstinate worker. e.â â â â â â Product information and preparing. More often than not the bank offers items and administrations with no preparation and direction made on item information. Just notices were given. Also, on the off chance that they hold trainings, representatives are not being paid for the participation. It is now a reality with the association that on the off chance that they hold half day workshops in Cebu territory specifically, it as a rule closes at around 2-3pm without any arrangements for snacks or suppers. Just light tidbits were given. Representatives would prefer not to go to classes any longer in view of the consequences for their wellbeing. Envision tuning in to your upper level administration addresses in aches of appetite on the off chance that it won’t drive you to the entryways of the specialists for ailments of hyperacidity and ulcers. f.â â â â â â â Duties and obligations versus designation of capacities. Tellers and new records were given a great deal of designated duties by directors and officials. They can't take care of business in view of the arrangement of HRD in their rundown of obligations and obligations subtitled as â€Å"and every other obligation and duties doled out by the branch†. The setting of their capacities isn't generally playing out their relative capacities however stretched out to the elements of the officials too. This gives a thought of chance to appreciate for some Branch Operation Officers the assignment of perusing papers nearly the whole day, making phone discussions, marking archives and making subsequent meet-ups on designated capacities. Decent compensation great work! This in reality shortens the voice of the representative to refer to manhandle. g.â â â â â Branch assignments and employment turns and inspirations. The current exchanges of branch assignments and occupation pivots without the understanding of the worker concern. 2005 notice expresses that the greatest number of years they are permitted to remain in a branch is five years in particular. Everything depends on guidelines and the board privilege to move representatives, nothing on how worker feels on the new remaining task at hand and how they respond on the nearness of their new branch assignments from home. Travel and stress make the most piece of their time going to work from north to south. What about the thought of aptitudes and working up of affinity with client care? In what capacity can HRD ignore acquaintance and time of modifications, capability, fulfillment, and worker assurance? Association change examination and proposition Consultative banking portrayed the jobs of investors as advisor to their clients augmenting perceived open doors by examining choices and helping them in their dynamic stage with most extreme certainty. This sort of way to deal with deals expects financiers to take a gander at their items and administrations from their customer’s perspective creation it as pertinent as an expansion in piece of the pie benefit and improvement of long haul relationship in an exceptionally serious industry. The point of convergence of selling at that point is to comprehend the requirements of the clients with all out demolition of the idea of entryway to entryway selling. The connection in this way is expanding the employee’s capacity to reveal needs, take care of issues and improve circumstances of the clients to a commonly advantageous relationship. (Richardson 1984). The methodology in this manner is building connections which are an incredible complexity to the issues I have refered to in branch moves and occupation revolutions. Building relationship requires time and it won’t advantage the bank if in the time that you nearly become more acquainted with the client you will be moved to another branch. In their drive for a Know Your Client (KYC) mandate, they overlooked that time incorporates such turn of events. Workers additionally experience low spirit and extraordinary worry in tolerating obligations without wanting to. Genuine inspiration comes from great authority and follows the rules set essentially. Inspirations as feelings have unknowingly set its place in the everyday operat

In one way or another, bad experiences can lead to great success. Now I can talk about my experiences and what they led to. This is my story. Over the years between the third grade to the eighth grade, I have tremendously struggled with friendships. To be popular was a big need during the late 1990’s and early 2000’s. Kids were hanging out at basketball and football games, going to school dances, starting to date and have crushes on other students, and earn reputations throughout the school. Some students already had a reputation of being very `popular’ while some were trying to fit in. I was one of those students. However, as time went by, I started to fit in more with cliques and different groups of friends. It sounded great however; being popular also comes with consequences. There are rumors that could be spread about you or someone else with your name in it.  Like read about memories? Read also  Flashbulb memory! Well, that’s what happened to me. I was a friend of a student named Lorena. Our friendship was really good that we would hang out after school with other friends after riding the school bus home. As our friendship grew, so did our trust between each other. She told me that she had a crush on another student. I felt so special and popular but my 15 minutes of popularity would not last long. One day, Lorena and I had an argument. I threatened to tell people about her crush on another student. In reality, I never told anyone about her crush. One day, I was threatened verbally by some of her friends and I felt so bad. From that point on, I learned that being popular is not a big deal. Its consequences can put a damper on people’s lives and can put people under pressure such as my situation. That means, people will remember or you will remember how you used to be. In addition, people will see how you will handle situations under pressure. If you don’t come out strong, you will go from extremely popular to unrecognized. My 15 minutes of popularity was good to experience, but I’m glad the time was up. The consequences of being popular were more effective than the popular feeling itself. My last experience came with not being alert to public dangers. The cause of this experience was partially my fault. I will never forget that day. I was in the 7th grade and it was either a Tuesday or Wednesday night at the Wizards game. I was with my after-school group. Some of us had separated and looked around the stores inside the MCI Center. I went into the Discovery Center with one of the students from the program. We looked around and enjoyed some of the scientific display models. On our way out of the Center, we happened to encounter these young teenagers or younger in the elevator with us. There were 3 of them who were from either DC or Maryland. They looked sort of troubled but I was not giving them much attention. While in the elevator, one of them asked us for a dollar. I responded with saying of five dollars, which was larger than they asked for. From this moment, I was not street smart at because I was raised with out any street troubles and had no knowledge on how to be safe while you some talks to you that you do not know. My friend jumped out the elevator on purpose and left me in with the other guys. The three of them decided to tackle me and held me on the ground. Then, one of them reached in my pockets and took a dollar. I had realized I was just robbed. After 5 seconds, the elevator made it to ground level. When I got exited the elevator, security and my after-school chaperones came and made sure everything was all right. I was in complete shock and people asked me about what happened and I said to them that they took a dollar from me. In my mind, I was thinking of what I could have done to make the situation better. The reminisce lasted several months. This incident put a major effect in my life and it changed my personality. I am much more cautious of my surroundings and whom I hang out with. I definitely learned a lot from this situation. Those were my unforgettable experiences. I learned that being popular is not the best thing. If you just be yourself, people will accept you for who you are and not for what you are trying to be. Also, the elevator incident warned me that I need to be more alert of my surroundings. I should of never told those guys I had money in the first place. Secondly, I could have founded another way to get to the ground level once I saw those guys of what they’re appearance looked like. I really learned from these situations. It’s hard to predict when you’re in the wrong place at the wrong time. Unless you use your senses, you definitely can determine what can happen. These were great experiences for me to go through. If it were not for these experiences, I would be a fake fool and a mess. Now, I have a great personality and street smarts. I have made remarkable achievements. I am one of many people who probably went though experiences like that, that made a change for the better. This experience had a good and bad part of it, but there was a lesson learned from it. There will always be a lesson learned from any experience and they are a good way for people to look at if they are having problems themselves. Experiences are part of life. How to cite Childhood Memories, Papers Childhood Memories Free Essays I remember it well. The late nights watching television when everybody was asleep, treating the last day of summer like it was the last day of the world. Waking up to the sounds of the birds hawking in the clear blue sky, where there were no clouds to be seen. We will write a custom essay sample on Childhood Memories or any similar topic only for you Order Now I remember the very first winter it snowed, that I witnessed from the safety of my warm but cozy bedroom. I can still visualize the first Snowman that I and my friend made, dressing it with our own hats and scarf’s. I remember well the first and last time that I went camping, the thrill of it was unbearable but going to sleep in a pitch dark forest was more than complicated, the only thing giving us light was our trusty flashlights and the little glimpses of the moonlight coming in through the trees like a beam from a helicopter search light. I remember my first ever pair of Nike runners, the only reason I wanted them was because all the ‘’big boys’’ had them. I remember my visit to Syria; I must admit I had never felt so at home. The humidity was insufferable but the fun and enjoyment I had there was priceless. I remember moving to a new home. Back then it wasn’t the most ideal thing to do, well at least that’s what I thought. It was like moving to a new country for me, leaving all my friends behind to explore the world. I remember my first ‘’Racing Red’’ bicycle. At first I was afraid to go on it, thinking I would damage the bike and myself. Eventually that did happen; this brings us to my first ever painful experience. It wasn’t entirely my fault, I was looking back to see where my friend was while cycling the bike (an amateur mistake). I still remember the bike wheel crashing into the curb sending me flying over the handle bars, this left me with a stone in my knee, which is still there to this date. I remember my first to last day of school like it was yesterday. Recollection about it makes me feel like jumping into a time-machine and going back to those ‘’Good ol’Days’’. I remember me getting my bag equipped and ready for the big day, the biggest day is what I thought back then. Encouraging my mam to iron my fresh new Uniform, which I thought made me look like a business-man. I remember walking in through the gates of the school, which gave me a vision of a prison. The school didn’t really have the atmosphere that I was expecting, well not until break time. I remember making my first friend in school, we didn’t talk at first but when we started playing football it all connected. I remember the first fight that happened during school, it was all over if it was a goal or not during a match we were playing. I remember the last day of school it all happened so fast, one minute we were in doing a graduation ceremony and the next; we’re in Subway signing each other’s uniforms like we will never see each other again. Memories like these put a smile on your face whenever you’re down, it makes you happy whenever you’re sad. It’s important to look back at memories to view what you have accomplished at life. And you only have two main people to thank for these memories which are; your Mom and Dad. These memories gifted to you by your parents have shaped your Past, Present and will shape your Future. Major Problems in Europe During the Fourteenth Century free essay sample

In the fourteenth century, European states faced many major problems that are evident in the history of the entire continent. These problems drastically changed the culture, religion, economy, and land. Throughout the 14th century, Europeans faced several catastrophes that changed the continent’s culture, land, religion, and economy, as shown in the Black Death, social upheavals, and war. The Black Death was one of the most devastating calamities in Europe’s written history. The Bubonic plaque was the most common form of plague during the Black Death. It was spread by black rats infested with fleas carrying a deadly bacterium. Originating from Asia, the plague spread quickly when it reached Europe in 1347 from Genoese merchants. In 1348, the plague and spread to France, and by the end of that year, to England. In northern France, some villages experienced death rates of almost up to forty percent. In England, some villages were completely wiped out. We will write a custom essay sample on Major Problems in Europe During the Fourteenth Century or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page Within three years, this outbreak of disease eliminated almost two-thirds of the continent’s population. It took almost 200 years from Europe to return to the population level it had before the Black Death struck. The plague also eliminated hope and wiped out crops. This depleted a will to live; there was little food, safety, and hope. The only thing people had was God. People began turning to religion to save themselves and give them a purpose to live. Another major problem that stuck Europe was social upheaval. Due to the high death rates and the decreasing number of able-bodied humans following the Black Death, wages began to rise because workers had more to barter for. This forced landlords to pay more for labor, while the price of everything else was decreasing. Following that was the decline in the rank of landlords and increase of the peasants’ social status. In 1358, a peasant revolt broke out in northern France. However, this revolt was not successful. Something similar happened in England, in 1381, a product of rising expectations. The peasants refused to pay a new tax, and drove out the collectors from their villages. This initiated a widespread rebellion of both townspeople and peasants. Unlike the revolt in France however, this one was successful. The poll tax was pardoned by the young king after the revolt. War was also a major problem of the fourteenth century in Europe. One famous war was the Hundred Years’ War. It was created through a struggle between the French and English. One dispute over the right of succession to the French throne also complicated the struggle. The Hundred Years’ War began with enthusiasm from knights, but the manpower ended up with the peasants. One famous hero was Joan of Arc who experienced visions from saints whom told her to have the dauphin crowned as king and free France. The war finally ended with England’s defeat. Looking back, we can see that Europe had many problems in the fourteenth century. These problems greatly affected Europe, and this is evident in the history and shaping of its culture, land, religion, and economy. The Black Death wiped out much of the population, and following that was social disruption. There became a greater need for peasants more than noblemen and landlords. Finally, war caused great distress and also showed the strength of the peasants.

Hesss Law Definition - Chemistry Glossary

Hesss Law Definition - Chemistry Glossary Hesss law states that the energy change in an overall chemical reaction is equal to the sum of the energy changes in the individual reactions comprising it. In other words, the enthalpy change of a chemical reaction (the heat of reaction at constant pressure) does not depend on the pathway between the initial and final states. The law is a variation of the first law of thermodynamics and conservation of energy. Importance of Hesss Law Because Hesss law holds true, its possible to break a chemical reaction into multiple steps and use the standard enthalpies of formation to find the overall energy of a chemical reaction. Standard enthalpy tables are compiled from empirical data, usually acquired using calorimetry. Using these tables, its possible to calculate whether or not a more complex reaction is thermodynamically favorable or not. Applications of Hesss Law In addition to calculating the enthalpy of a reaction rather than directly measuring it, Hesss law is used to: Find electron affinities based on theoretical lattice energy.Calculate heat change of phase transitions.Calculate heat change when a substance changes allotropes.Find the heat of formation of an unstable intermediate in a reaction.Find the lattice energy of ionic compounds. How free is the free market Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1250 words

How free is the free market - Essay Example The first example which comes to mind is the labour market and western democracies such as the UK and the US pride themselves on being welfare states which regulate how the labour is governed (Chomsky, 1996). However, this governance and control may have political objectives as described by Adams (2002). Unemployment becomes an important question for governments therefore they may try to maintain low unemployment figures with the regulation of the labour market (Sloman, 2004). In essence, what should have been a free market in an economic system is turned into a controlled market. It could be asked why a system which promotes the idea of a free market as described by Adam Smith and many others who came after him actually seeks to regulate labour at all? The notions concerning the acceptance of a free market and competition between individuals seem to run counter to labour regulations and minimum wage laws (Chomsky, 1999). The answer given to solve this apparent disjoint is that regulations are supposed to protect people from those who may exploit them. For instance, without proper regulations created by the government bodies the labour market could become imperfect as factory owners could be unfair to the labour they have employed (Botero et. al., 2004). Richardson (1999) says that, â€Å"regulation of the labour market has been a feature of Western economies since it was proposed as an amelioration of some of the worst abuses of workers experienced during the Industrial Revolution (Richardson, 1999, Pg. 1)†. Undoubtedly, the situation during the Industrial Revolution meant that mill owners could treat their labour as they wished no regulatory controls existed on wages or work hours. The situation might be not have changed much today had there been no control on the market even though writers such as Chomsky (1999) suggest that the neoliberal agenda allows the exploitation of

The company currently has over 650,000 sales representatives in the United States, however, 70-75% of the sales are still from international subsidiaries. There is a poor retention rate, however, so therefore the three level Leadership Model has provided for a structure of mentorship where each salesperson recruits others and mentors them towards the next level. In the Leadership Model, each sale s person must sell themselves, rather than living off of the sales of others as is done in the pyramid model. (Willet, 2010). According to Avon Company, Inc. (Contribution of pet economy to the Australian industry report, 2006c) 2.3 The pet owners attitude toward the pets The pet industry will make a remarkable contribution to the economy; it is still the pets owners contribution. How they spend money on their lovely pets is the way how we could provide service and make money of course. The families today tend to treat their pets like a child rather than a household-kept animal. A new survey in Australia has proved that concept of pet parent rather than a pet owner. The study can indicate that the people are sharing a close emotion bond with their loving pets. Most of them shows a responsible attitude, and they love their pets, would protect them and spent money for them. In this study 85% of pet owners treated their pet part of the family or just like a child and 57% interviewed pet owners take their pet their best friend. 21% of pet owners often/sometimes celebrate their pets birthday and 44% of pet owners give their pet presents for Christmas or other special occasions. Similar studies have been conducted in other countries with similar results, indicating that this is a worldwide trend.(Industry Trends for 2009) The statistics from the pet industry will suggest there are profitable room the industry enterers. The pet care industry has become a general service industry which is accepted by people and more types of services will appear to attract the profit. 3.0 The major competitor analysis The Precious Pet Private Club is a comprehensive pet care club, which consist of the popular pet restaurant and pet hotel. The new concept is the pet-owner interactive sports program. And the pet restaurant and pet hotels are not so new. So there is no doubt they would project a competitive challenge to our business. And the regular pet product retailing place such as the pet food store, and the super market and convenience store could attract the customer who would come to our pet restaurant. Then the pet beauty center is another major competitor. The pet beauty center is a pet service provider, too and will provide some pet products such as food, the pet only shampoo, clothes and so on. The business model contains the product retailing and pet service, similar to the comprehensive service provider, the Precious Pets Private Club. And the beauty service is the major profit source. And for the Precious Pets Private Club target to the upper level pet owner customers. The service provi ded will be packaged and sell to those who would like to build closer emotional bonds with their lovely pets. The business model will be explained in the operation structure part. The market environment research could bring back the information that around the Precious Pets Private Club there are 2 special pet product stores and 1 pet beauty service center. The supermarket or convenience stores are the traditional pet food and pet product retailers, too. 4.0 The operation structure of the Precious Pets Private Club 4.1 The business model The Precious Pets Private Club will consist of four major business categories. The basic pets care such as the pet beauty service will be supplied. The pet owners can get their pets washed and get dressed to match the happy mode of the pet owner and the pets in the short vacation. The pet owner sports programs could let the pet in when ever the pet owner want to do sports in the club. And some pet training could be a choice. Here the owner could train their pets to finish litter tricks and increase the interaction between the pets and the owner. The pet theme restaurants will put the focus on the pets self-service food supply. All kinds of major branded pet foods will be served and the pets can choose the food they like and would not be confined to the usual pet food at home. It is a special experience for the pets. If the pet owner can not tell which brand of pet food their pets prefer, just bring them to the pet self-service restaurant and let them decide. The fourth part is the p et-in hotel. The club tended to supply a good place to spend a day or even a weekend for the pets and their owners. And the pet-in hotel let the owner take their pets to the hotel together. The hotel could supply the bed where the pet and the owner could share or if the pet owner would like the pet to sleep alone, the hotel could also supply a single pet bed, a blanket, a basket or a pet room. The owner could keep their pet in the room they booked. At the very beginning the pet-in club would supply at most 10 rooms, because the room maintenance would be a little expensive. Except for the four major business categories, the club could accommodate some pets exhibition. And the service of the club will be provided to the club member only. To demonstrate the business structure clearly, the figure below could be referred. Precious Pets Private Club Pet-in hotel Pet self-service restaurant Interactive sports program Basic pet care 4.2 The human resource for the Club According to the business model the club needs to resemble the four service model together. Each business category will need a supervisor who is in charge of the product design for this business category, included in the expecting employee number for each sector. 3 pet care worker for the basic pet care center providing the necessary service including wash the pet and dress the pet. 2 workers for the interactive sports program, provide the guidance work to show the customer around the sports programs and fulfill some job schedule connected to other sections. The pet self-service restaurant will employ 4 employees to refill the food supply and tidy the restaurant. 2 employees will be hired for the hotel sector to maintain the hotel rooms and keep the room comfortable for a pet and owner staying together. 5.0 The SWOT analysis of Precious Pets Private Club The SWOT analysis is the process of analyzing organizations and their environments based on their strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats. The analysis would include the environmental analysis and the organizational analysis. The environment analysis is the external factors analysis, which is the process of scanning the business environment for threats and opportunities. The organizational analysis is internal factors analysis, which is the process of analyzing a firms strengths and weaknesses (Weihrich, 1982). 5.1 The Strength analysis The comprehensive service model would be fresh for the pet owners. The target is to server the upper level pet owners who have a strong demand for establishing an emotional tie with their pets. So the target would decide all the programs in the club is special for interactive pet and pet owner. All the programs could be finished by the owner here. But all the necessary products are ready to use. The club is small and would supply total membership type consumption. The members could establish good relations and could stay with the club for a longer time. 5.2 The weakness analysis The products are still basic. Though the business categories have been defined and the comprehensive pet service club is new, the products of each category are still not attractive enough. The products need more development and innovation to attract the customer closely so they will come and stay with the club. 5.3 The opportunity analysis The expenditure on pet is increasing according to statistics, which can guaranty a stable pet expenditure market. People obviously to accept the new type of the pet service and the survey indicates a stable customer expense trend. 5.4 The threats analysis The big pet industry market could be affected by the economy downturn. Since 2009, the global financial crisis has shadowed the peoples lives. People tend to cut down expense. So the expenditure on pets will be cut down to an extent. It would influence our market strategy under such an economy environment. Many of our market strategies will gain little effects. 6.0 Conclusion The team selects the comprehensive pet service club and tends to push the service package to the market through the membership of club. The business is new and the target of the products is clear. But as the SWOT analysis has revealed, the product mix is too easy, and can be copied by other business. So the in-depth product development is very necessary. The service model could be innovative, too. All the target of the organization should be focused on a close emotional tie and interactions between the pet and pet owner, which should become the core competitiveness of the Precious Pets Private Club.

Cultivating an Equal Opportunity Society

Question: Do you think cultivating an equal opportunity society has helped countries such as South Africa and America to move forward? In a carefully worded essay, show why this is the case or why it is not. The equity act was implemented after apartheid in South Africa and America in order to force businesses to hire disadvantaged groups in order to amend the imbalance apartheid created in the economy. The equity act is very much needed in a country where racism led to a minority group being developed. In my opinion the equity act has a very important role in reinstating a sense of believe in a better future. There is no point in telling a minority group they are free to do anything but then not force the majority group to allow this. The majority group could go on refusing to hire minority groups, still harbouring a racist view. You cannot expect people to instantly change their long standing views of discrimination and overnight start hiring different races and genders. It is a slow process and education, trust and forgiveness are not easily acquired. Here the equity act aims to force people to accept the change and move forward letting go of discrimination. Now in South Africa I believe the equity act has allowed our country to move away from formal apartheid and into a time where the focus on race and gender has become bigger than ever. Today when you apply for an education, bursary or job your race and gender is a major deciding factor for the recruiter or employer.By law in South Africa if you have a business that employs more than 50 people you have to comply with the regulations and rules set out in Employment Equity act, this is also known as Black Economic Empowerment(BEE) and should you not achieve the desired level of BEE status your business can be fined. The higher your BEE status the more likely you are to win government contracts ensuring higher paid jobs for your business. Because of the need for a BEE status, employers’ criteria for hiri ng staff have shifted from capabilities and merit to race and gender. An employer will much rather hire a staff member that will ensure the business a hire BEE status than hire a staff member that will not increase his status or even worse lead to him to being fined. Even though the latter staff member may be more qualified than the first staff member the employer will gain more funs with a less capable employee than with a highly skilled employee of the wrong race or gender. Because the employer is now forced to hire less skilled workers his more skilled workers have to work harder to make up for the employees who cannot perform the duties. This leads to feeling of hatred and discrimination among employees. Companies may also struggle to find people of a certain group that is qualified to perform a task and so leave the company under staffed and not capable of providing a service or product. This situation leads to not only a drop in quality of services and products but these busines ses also receive more work as winning a contract is purely based on what race and gender works for you. Companies have moved from wanting to provide top quality services and products to wanting the correct race and gender to work for them.Your standard of work is no longer important, just what you look like. How is that a move forward from focusing on skin colour? Disadvantage groups now have more opportunities available to them now but your race, gender, family tradition and religion greatly influence your worldview and interests. For this reason many economic sectors lack the people required to meet BEE status. I interviewed a director of a security company in my home town and he had this to say about the equity act. Mr Smith runs a private security company in Cape Town and employs 150 security guards. He only has a level 2 BEE status. Mr Smith explained to me that due to the nature of the tasks required in his company, male employees are more attracted to the job. In order to comp ly with the employment equity act he has to hire a certain percentage of people from previously disadvantaged groups. Unfortunately these people lack the funds required to be educated as security guards. Mr Smith has to pay for these people to be educated costing his company a large amount every year and he can also only afford to educate a certain amount of people of the required race, leaving his company understaffed. For example say he has to employ 20 Indians but can only afford to educate 10 Indians. He is not allowed to hire 10 staff members from another group and thus leaving his company understaffed by 10 people. He also has problems finding females to hire as security is not viewed as a job suited for females. For this reason his BEE status is very low and he has almost no chance in acquiring large government contracts needed to grow his business not even mentioning being under staffed. If he doesn’t comply with BEE he will be fined and in order to comply with BEE he has to pay to educate the proper race.It is a vicious cycle and is created from an act looking at empowering our country. In this situation all the act is doing is decreasing job opportunities as implementing this act becomes too costly for small businesses. Trough BEE many disadvantaged groups have been receiving job positions they are not qualified for. Under skilled people are being made directors of companies purely to increase BEE status and thus increase contracts for the company. These directors often still harbour a feeling of oppression and revenge. Many disadvantaged people believe the â€Å"whites† owe them everything after apartheid and when these people are then put in power they ignore the regulation of the equity act. They want revenge for their suffering and will only favour their race or gender. Due to the lack of monitoring the implementation of the equity act, many companies are never fined for not complying with the act. There are companies playing by the r ules and suffering and there are companies ignoring the rules, favouring their â€Å"own† in the job market and bribing their way to the top.We are now seeing companies with a majority of one race being born creating more hatred among groups. This goes for previously disadvantaged groups and advantaged groups. When your race and gender becomes a criterion for employment victimization will always be a factor. Before the equity act you where hired based on merit, sure disadvantaged groups didn’t even stand a chance as their access to education where restricted but being hired based on your label is fuelling blame and discrimination now more than ever. Not only is the act exaggerating the very problem it seeks to solve it is now giving people a valid criteria and reason for discrimination. People will always seek to blame and point out differences among themselves, this act just allows the differences among people to be taken more seriously. I have heard many times people say,† he was only hired because they need more black people,† or â€Å"She only won because she is a women and they need to have a female win so they can keep their government sponsorship. It is a really sad situation to be in when you no longer have to do your best to achieve success but can achieve success by purely applying to a company or university that is short on filling their BEE criteria. Not only is this a bad thing for skilled people who are losing jobs based on race but it is detrimental to skilled people being hired in suitable positions all while there, they are being frowned upon. I can definitely see the equity act as necessary in our country. It is vital for educating the majority about the minority and vice versa. It is important for empowering en providing confidence in oppressed groups. It can eliminate the stereotypes of a white man’s job or a black ladies’ job. Society can grow so much from being pushed to integrate our relationships w ith other groups and us as a country can rectify our differences but unfortunately this act has illuminated our differences and used it as its very criteria for success. We are moving backwards and our standard of service and quality of products are dropping. Businesses are suffering and the people who do strive for excellence are stepping back in order to favour an attitude of â€Å"the world owes me everything†.The people are not ready for such an act. Our focus on difference and our â€Å"revenge† attitudes are over shadowing our goal of working as one. I don’t expect people to forget about apartheid, its effects will still be felt for many years, but I do believe if we can realise that we all do have a chance at an equal opportunity for success, we can create an economy fuelled by one goal, a brighter future for all. Unfortunately right now we are slipping into reverse creating a world worse than before.

Movie Analysis Girl Dragon Tattoo

The Hero’s journey is a classic form of storytelling that has been used for thousands of years. All stories share common elements in their structure. In today’s modern films the representations of these elements have been warped and twisted but remain for the most part unchanged. This paper follows the foreign film The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo directed by Niels Arden Oplev and based on the book by Stieg Larsson through the Hero’s Journey. There was something lost in watching the film with subtitles; by not knowing the language there is an element lost in the film. â€Å"however, in an effort to have the subtitles match the action on screen, the subtlety, idiom, and nuance of a language are often and by necessity, neglected. † (Barsam & Monahan, 2010) The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo in essence tells two parallel Hero’s Journey’s which mesh and split over the course of the film. In the Ordinary World we’re introduced to Mikale Blomkvis t (Michael Nyqvist) and Lizbeth Salander (Noomi Rapace). We find Mikale a defeated investigative journalist found guilty of libel and Lizbeth a 24 quiet, Goth hacker. Mikale’s sentence appears as a Call to Adventure with him spend more time with his sister and relatives before he’s due to serve his jail time. In the context of the film it is the beginning of his journey. The Call to Adventure is typically characterized by a challenge or problem being introduced or becoming more significant. Lizbeth’s is the appointment of her new guardian; a cruel and abusive man that takes control of her life.Mikale’s Call to Adventure is being contacted by billionaire Henrik Vanger (Sven-Bertil Taube) to investigate the disappearance of his niece Harriet, who vanished 40 years ago. The Refusal of the Call is an unwillingness to change to meet the challenge or solve the problem. This is seen in the film by Lizbeth waling out of a meeting with her guardian after refusing t o answer questions about her life. With Mikale the Refusal is shown by his reluctance to the investigation for Henrik brought on by his defeat in court. The Meeting of the Mentor involves overcoming this reluctance and initial problem. In The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo the mentor for either Lizbeth or Mikale is different from the norm usually associated with the role. For Lizbeth dealing with the abusive guardian she is mentored in dealing with this problem by drawing from herself and her past experiences, using her own talents to solve her issues with him permanently. Mikale’s mentor is not one person but two; he is encouraged by both Henrik and Harriet through the things and words she left behind. In Crossing the Threshold the hero accepts the challenge entering into the special world.Mikale enters the special world is signified twice in the film; first when he agrees to investigate Harriet’s disappearance and second when he arrives where she disappeared a remote, gl oomy island with chilling weather and frost residents. Lizbeth Crosses the Threshold in two different times in the film first when she is forced to deal with her guardian when she needs money for a new computer and then when she emails Mikale involving herself in the world he is submersed in. The Tests, Allies, and Enemies section is the section of the journey where the hero encounters tests and meets allies and enemies just as the title implies. In The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo the Tests, Allies, and Enemies is a rather long stretch of the film that despite its length maintains interest and suspense. This section of the journey can be split in half. In the first half Lizbeth and Mikale continue along the own Hero’s Journey; in the second half their journey’s have merged together. In the first half Lizbeth faces several tests and confronts her enemy. Her tests manifest in her abuse at the hands of her guardian and her subsequent defeat of him completing in a way Lizbe th’s minor Hero’s Journey.Lizbeth’s next significant test is where her journey begins to mesh with Mikale’s. During Mikale’s first half of the Tests, Allies, and Enemies section he begins to sort through the mounds of evidence and information accumulated over the years. His first test begins with him reigniting his journalistic spark for him to truly investigate this mystery. During the beginning of his investigation he is introduced or told of the other members of the Vanger family where he seems to find allies in Martin Vanger (Peter Haber) and his wife. With Henrik’s suspicions and information the rest of the Vanger family becomes his suspects and enemies. Mikale finds his allies in Henrik and chief of police Morell (Bjorn Granath). In the second half of the section the journeys of Lizbeth and Mikale mesh. â€Å"She finds her own emotional needs nurtured by the nature of the case† (Ebert, 2010) compelling Lizbeth to send Mikale an e mail when she notices a pattern while looking through his files. After initial contact they become allies in solving the case.Working together as allies they discover a disturbing revelation about the nature of Harriet’s disappearance. Approaching the Inmost Cave is the stage where the hero prepares for the coming confrontation. This is where Mikale takes what he and Lizbeth have gathered to update Henrik. This leads the film to the Ordeal where the Hero faces the crisis, fear, and death. This manifests in the film with the family on the island confronting Mikale to express their concerns over his investigation, after which the island seems darker with suspicion everywhere. The central point of the Ordeal is that after the meeting while running through the woods someone takes several shots at Mikale, nearly killing him. The Reward where the hero is rewarded for surviving the ordeal is represented in the film by Mikale and Lizbeth with help from Morell get the last clue that ma kes all the other pieces of the puzzle fit together. This sets them on the path to solving the mystery. The Road Back Sequence is the point in the journey where the hero recommits to completing the journey. This is represented by Mikale and Lizbeth using the secret they discovered to find who they believe was responsible for all that happened. While Lizbeth investigates records for proof of identity Mikale investigates the suspect’s house where he is nearly shot, till he is rescued by one of his allies. Lizbeth makes a startling discovery in the records and rushes to alert Mikale, who has been captured by the one responsible. The Resurrection is where the Hero faces the final challenge on the threshold home. This is shown when Mikale learns the truth straight from the mouth and his life hangs by a thread. As he faces death Lizbeth returns in time to save him. The police arrive and the truth comes out to all. The last part of the Hero’s Journey is the Return with the Elix ir. This where has happened in the special world has benefits in the ordinary world. In the ordinary world Mikale revives a gift from Lizbeth while serving his sentence which helps with his renewed inspiration for journalism. Lizbeth takes from her journey the courage to make amends with her past and to move on with her future.
